FaxBack Announces a New VoIP Fax ATA, Based on HTTPS, Which Provides a Level of Quality for VoIP Faxing Equal to PSTN Connections

FaxBack Announces a Fax ATA Beta Program for Carriers at ITEXPO

LOS ANGELES - ITEXPO West 2009 - Sept. 3, 2009 -- FaxBack, a leading provider of reliable VoIP fax server solutions for business, enterprise and carrier applications, today announced a beta program for a new fax ATA device, based on HTTPS, which provides a superior level of reliability for VoIP faxes. This new Fax ATA device embeds the software, and all of the intelligence required to reliably connect fax machines to VoIP networks over the open internet, including low quality, latent or unsecured networks.

FaxBack's new HTTPS-based fax ATA brings reliability, security and easy firewall/NAT traversal capabilities. Superior to SIP T.38-based connections over the open internet - FaxBack's HTTPS-based approach reliably connects fax machines over VoIP networks, including wireless networks or satellite connections, in a manner that equals direct PSTN connections. Previously unsupported features, like fax archiving and e-mail notifications, are now possible when faxing from a fax machine.

"The issues associated with connecting fax machines via SIP T.38-based ATAs still pose a serious challenge for carriers seeking to migrate their internet connected customers to VoIP," said Mike Oliszewski, Co-founder and CTO for FaxBack. "Our new HTTPS-based fax solution addresses this challenge, and we invite service providers and enterprises of all sizes to contact us to learn more about our new HTTPS Fax ATA program."

Now connections from fax machines, Microsoft Fax clients, and premise based fax servers like FaxBack's NET SatisFAXtion, can all have the same reliability when connecting to carriers and service providers. This technology also enables enterprises to integrate fax into business and application workflows, including document management systems. It also enables them to extend features like complete tracking and archiving of faxes, to facilitate regulatory compliance requirements like HIPAA, SOX, and corporate document governance.

In addition to carriers, FaxBack is also partnering with VoIP vendors to embed this new fax protocol into their ATAs. The beta initially includes AudioCodes' MP-202 platform supporting the new HTTPS fax protocol, and it will also include several other vendor's ATAs and hardware platforms.

This new Beta program begins on September 15th. Contact FaxBack, or visit booth # 435 at ITEXPO for additional details.
